Lumiere is a small fifty seat restaurant with a small bar with four stools. Located in a corner store front in Newton, it is modestly decorated in classic style (white trim, oak flooring, burgundy red accents), comfortable, clean, and classic. The food is French and the setting is romantic. Parking is difficult on Washington Street but you can find ample parking in the back of the restaurant where you will find free and metered lots.

They have been lauded for their desserts, especially the grape sorbet.

The food is always excellent, though sometimes it doesn't go smoothly. You won't always get bread (sometimes you get it as soon as you're seated, other times you just don't), but don't worry, it's some peculiar Rye that's very good. The burgers are good but the chef can over cook; if you bring this up with your waitperson they usually clear it up. Often they will get you a new burger (although I imagine most folks are too impatient for that) or getting comped the overcooked burger. The place is packed on weekends, and the fries are excellent.

Chiara is somewhat of an enigma. Westwood was a dry town for many years and just changed the laws in 2005 to allow alcohol licenses. Before that, there were essentially no restaurants. Chiara is the first really serious high-end restaurant in Westwood and it was established with very high ideals of quality - a very carefully designed interior decor, very good food beautifully presented, good service and Boston-level prices.

The fresh bread with olive and garlic tapenade is scrumptious as a starter. The food was not necessarily groundbreaking takes enough risks to be described as "inventive".

Wellesley Lower Falls spot, offering Chinese food from chef/owner C.K. Sau, formerly of Chinatown's New Shanghai. There is a small parking lot next to the restaurant, but street parking may be easier. Hunan crispy whole fish, seared sea scallops in black pepper sauce ^[7] This restaurant also serves a good selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, which range from standard (Buddhist’s Delight) to interesting (Vegetarian Goose). Food is served in a casual but classy setting, with take out service available. This place is heralded as one of Wellesley’s best and most authentic Chinese restaurants.
